Kickstarter of the Week: Black Mumba
We love a gritty crime noir and this week’s Kickstarter of the Week gives the genre a unique twist by setting the tale in the murky streets of Mumbai instead of LA or London. Featuring four short stories, it contains all the classic elements of noir, from a brooding city to a weary inspector at the centre of everything as well as a supernatural undertone which writer Ram Venkatasen uses to give the world of Black Mumba a sinister undercurrent, just like the sinister snake which it is named after. The slick black and white art is produced by 4 Indian artists and mixes watercolour washes and cross hatched inking to give the book a fantastic vintage feel as well as maximise the darkness of some Black Mumba’s more terrifying tales.
