We’ve been looking forward to this one ever since we discovered the wacky world of the Etherington Brothers back at the end of last year, and the early images of this book was one of the main reason we picked them to be a part of our Indie Showcase Special of The Pull List. Created by the mysterious alter ego of Lorenzeo Etherington, it’s filled with mix of trademark, high energy Etherington artwork and quirky characters, but rendered with a halftone-tastic sheen and a generous dose of retro styling to create a book that looks effortlessly cool and totally unique – it even comes with its own 3D section and 3D glasses! So get behind this brilliant book and make sure it is added to your collection soon by pledging for it here. And watch the pledge video below!

As well as picking up some great comics at this weekend’s True Believers we also got to hear about some fantastic crowd-funding projects that are underway. So rather than just pick one of them for our Kickstarter of the Week, we thought we’d shine a spotlight on a few of them as we take a look at Hotel by Nathan Hill, Cadavers: Poltergeist from Mad Robot Comics and Galaxafreaks: Time Songs.

kickstarter_of_the_weekJoe Cape writer Sam Webster has reached for the stars and beyond in his new book Unfamiliar Skies. 19 year old Claris is part of a mission to the closest inhabitable planet that was started by her great great grandfather, and set to be finished by his descendants. But she has had enough and gone on the run, frustrated that her destiny was previously decided by her ancestors. It’s an ambitious tale for Webster but judging by the five page preview that he has posted on the Kickstarter pledge page, it’s one he is embracing fully. With a really smart old school 70s sci-fi feel, with shades of Logans Run and Silent Running, but presented in Webster’s stylish Anime inspired style it’s a series that has a lot of potential and we look forward to seeing it make it’s debut at this year’s Melksham Comic Con – just so long as it hits it’s funding goal, which you can help by pledging here.
