Thought Bubble continue to be the pinnacle of the Comic Convention calendar for indie and small press comic creators, and this year’s event looks set to be even bigger and better than ever! With a guest list that include some of the biggest names in comics (such as Brian K Vaughan, Sara Pichelli and more) alongside the very best of the UK indie scene it’s a must attend event for anyone who loves comics. We take a look at some of the books being released on the weekend.

We caught up with Glorious Wrestling Alliance’s Josh Hicks back at ELCAF in June and he mentioned that a new volume his zany ode to the craziness of pro-wrestling, Glorious Wrestling Alliance: Grappling Road, would be debuting at this year’s Thought Bubble. So we were super excited when these previews pages arrived in our Inbox as they look to continue the awesome style of first volume and head straight for the main event!

With Thought Bubble just around the corner, we are excited to find out that the team at Good Comics are following the release of the wonderful Cosmos and Other Stories and Human Garbage, by releasing not one new book, but three, including a new line of DIY comics from some of UK scene’s most exciting creators. Pre-orders for all titles are now open at goodshop.bigcartel.com and all three titles will be available at Thought Bubble.

While chatting to the fine folks from Good Comics at Leamington this weekend they told us some very exciting news about their next book, Human Garbage, which is set to be a collection of stories from the awesome Josh Hicks, creator of the brilliantly bonkers Glorious Wrestling Alliance. They gave us a sneak preview of the cover for Human Garbage at the convention, but here are some more amazing pages for you to check out!

bigcartel_headerIt’s been a great year for those fine folks at Avery Hill Publishing, thanks to titles like Artifical Flowers and The City Insdie. And 2017 is looking to continue that trend as they have 4 great new books coming, including a new collaboration with the Comic Book Slumber Party. We take an early look at their eclectic new range for the new year.

porcelain-ivory-towerOne of our most anticipated books of 2017, is set to be the follow up to 2015’s outstanding Porcelain: Bone China from Improper Books. Set to be released next summer, Benjamin Read and Chris Wildgoose’s Porcelain: Ivory Tower will pick up the story of Lady 10 years after the events of Bone China and will see Lady become a Mother. But if you can’t wait until next year to see what’s in store, you can check out a fantastic 12 page preview which you can find here.

Aces WeeklyDavid Lloyd’s Aces Weekly is celebrating it’s 4th anniversary, and that means it is set to release an incredible 25th volume of the award winning digital art comic. They’ve have a landmark year this year and we will have an exclusive interview with David looking back at the first 24 volumes in the next issue of The Pull List, but for now have a look at some of the amazing comics in Aces Weekly volume 25 available now at www.acesweekly.co.uk. We also have some quotes from David himself about them…

EIR coverWe’ve an exclusive first look at the new Kickstarter coming your way from Ryan K Lindsay, the brains behind Deer Editor and Chum, not to mention the undisputed ‘The King of Indie Comics Kickstarters’! Ryan’s new all-ages sci-fi comic EIR is coming to Kickstarter in November with artwork from Alfie Gallagher, Triona Farrell and Ryan Ferrier and as with all his Kickstarters, pledges begin at $1 so you’d be a fool not to get involved. Watch the teaser trailer below!

Shrewsbury Comic FestivalWe’re in the middle of convention series and one of the most interesting sounding (and potentially under-rated) events on the calendar is this weekend’s Shrewsbury International Comic Festival. Very much a ‘festival’ of comics in the vein of the Lakes or Thought Bubble, rather than another ‘Con’ it has a line up of international and UK guests and an approach of celebrating comics that may make it one of the best events of the year. Olly MacNamee takes a look at what’s going on.

FLINTLOCK#1 PREVIEW coverWith a successfully funded Kickstarter campaign behind him, Steve Tanner, Flintlock writer and Time Bomb Comics’ Godfatherly figure, has kindly offered us here at Pipedream Comics a first look at this debut issue. The comic itself intends to create a shared universe of characters set in the 18th century and will span the entire century as the stories progress and unfold.
