News: Jim Lee variant cover for Neil Gaiman’s Sandman: Overture #1 revealed
In less than two weeks, legendary writer Neil Gaiman’s Sandman: Overture #1 will hit ComiXology and the DC Comics app. In anticipation of this Comic Book Resources have this week revealed an exclusive Comic Book Legal Defense Fund variant cover from DC Comics co-publisher and one of our all-time favourite artists Jim Lee – as if we weren’t excited enough already?!
The Sandman: Overture #1 is the first chapter of a 6-issue limited, bimonthly series that explores (amongst much more) just what happened to Morpheus before he was captured in The Sandman #1. Illustrated by J.H. Williams III, this highly anticipated inaugural issue lands in stores on October 30 and today Comic Book Rersources’ have exclusively revealed of a new variant cover from by DC co-Publisher and legendary artist Jim Lee.
Featuring a black-and-white interpretation of Morpheus, Lee’s Comic Book Legal Defense Fund-branded variant cover will be available exclusively to retailers who join the CBLDF during the current membership drive, and quantities are based on the individual membership pledges.
“It’s hard to believe it’s been almost ten years since Neil Gaiman wrote to me about supporting the CBLDF,” Lee, also a member of the CBLDF, stated in a press release. “I’m thrilled to be able to collaborate with Neil on this ‘Sandman’ cover as a way to say thank you to all the retailers who are joining the Fund this month.”
