Aces Weekly to present digital comics seminar at Brighton Digital Festival
If you want to find out more about the practicalities of creating a hit digital comic, then who better to ask than the co-creator of the award-winning Aces Weekly (Pipedream Comics Digital Comic of the Year 2013). If you’re based in the UK then you can do just that at this year’s Brighton Digital Festival on September 25th, where Bambos from Aces Weekly will be holding a unique seminar entitled BAM! Comics ‘n’ Computers where you can pick the brains of this industry veteran.
Bambos, a comic book veteran and co-creator of the award winning on-line comic Aces Weekly, will be presenting his unique insights in a digital comics workshop exploring the pros and cons of putting comics online, as well as exploring the huge potential of the medium both in-print and on-line.
In his seminar BAM! Comics ‘n’ Computers he asks, can traditional media transition into new media? Can in-print promote on-line or vice versa? What is the best digital model for comics? Will digital comics take a new, bold direction or follow in the wake of traditional comics? Who is stronger, Superman or The Hulk? To explore these and many other issues come along to this workshop, which will include a question and answer session.
Bambos has worked in the comic industry for almost thirty years and co-founded a traditional comic company (Acme Press Ltd) as well as an on-line comic company (Aces Weekly). He has been a publisher, editor, writer, artist, inker, letterer, teacher and student of comics and has worked for both UK and American publishers.
In this workshop he will share his experiences of setting up an on-line comic in a field where there are no rules and no experts.
