Our 11th favourite MonkeyBrain comics title comes to print as Knuckleheads: Fist Contact debuts this June from IDW Publishing
Last summer, hen we produced our list of the top 10 MonkeyBrain Comics titles to celebrate their 1st anniversary, one of the titles which just missed out on the list was the brilliant Knuckleheads from Brian Winkeler and Robert Wilson IV. As a result it became unofficially dubbed the ’11th best MonkeyBrain Comics title’, but that might be about to change as Knuckleheads is set to come to the world of print this summer in a collected edition courtesy of IDW Publishing.
If this is your first experience of the world of Knuckleheads well it’s an action comedy like none other. Trev, his roommate Lance, and new friends Pizza Guy and Emma (AKA “hot, drunk English chick”) encounter giant monsters, gun-toting robbers, talking dogs and homicidal aliens, when all they really want to do is eat pizza and watch some Netflix.
Here is the official word from IDW:
“Ever woken up from a great night out and not been entirely sure of the evening’s events? (Of course not! You’re a responsible comics fan!) Well, what if instead of losing your keys or phone, something really amazing happened—and you took it for granted? That’s what happens in Knuckleheads: Fist Contact whenTrevor K. Trevinski (don’t ask what the “K” stands for) is visited by aliens and given a very special gift—The Crystal Fist!
What is it? How does it work? Trev doesn’t remember. But he can use it to cheat at videogames and boost free cable, so everything’s cool. Until, you know, a giant monster attacks the city.”
“We love sitcoms like Arrested Development and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” says Winkeler, “our goal with Knuckleheads is to create a unique, character-based comedy inspired by our favorite shows.”
Collected under the pun-tastic title “Knuckleheads: Fist Contact” it joins a growing library of essential digital comics debuting in print at IDW, with titles like Bandette, Edison Rex, Artful Daggers and more making the transition from pixels to pages. All of which goes to show the power of digital comics a a showcase for great writers and artists to make a name for themselves and let’s hope there’s many more to come!
