ComiXology revealed as top-grossing app on the iTunes store that’s not a game!
Just in case you had any doubt, today ComiXology have reminded us that not only are they top digital comics app company but one of the top-grossing iPad apps in the whole world, as the Comics by ComiXology iOS app is revealed as iTunes’ #1 Top Grossing non-game iPad App for 2013, ranking #11 overall.
“In a billion dollar marketplace with competition between over a million apps, it’s gratifying to rank as the Top Grossing non-game iPad App in the entire iTunes App Store,” said ComiXology co-founder and CEO David Steinberger. “This past year has been a great year for comics and ComiXology!”
ComiXology also revealed today that they have served over 6 billion pages of comic books and graphic novels – up from 2 billion pages this time last year– since the inception of the platform just over four short years ago.
If you look at the chart as a whole, you’ll also see that ComiXology powers all three Top 100 ranking book apps in an list which is quite the achievement when you consider game apps take 79 out of 100 spots. This means ComiXology represents an astounding 14% of the non-game apps in the entire 2013 iPad Top 100 Grossing list.
The company’s rank in this year’s Top Grossing iPad Apps chart sees ComiXology beating such well-known brands as The New York Times, Minecraft, Pandora, People Magazine, The New Yorker and even The Wall Street Journal.
