Positioning it’s as the Netflix of comics, ComicBlitz gives you access to hundreds of great comics via a quick and easy monthly subscription. Read titles from Valiant and Dynamite alongside indie publishers like Action Lab, Arcana and Asylum Press. One of the newest digital publishing platforms available, it is currently only available as an iOS app for iPad

Comicker Digital
Digital exclusive publisher Comicker Digital bring their unique titles like Gatehouse, Grimfish, Lost Angels and Sylvania to the world via their newly launched iOS app. Operating like a webcomic with regular updates, but with a subscription model for the very latest pages, Comicker Digital a great mix of free and paid for content with some fantastic original titles.

ComiXology comics
The digital comics giant features the latest titles from major publishers like Marvel and DC, released on the same date as their print counterparts. It’s also the home to international publishers like France’s Delcourt and Japan’s Shonen Publishing as well as the best new indie comics via ComiXology Submit. This year saw a completely revamped version of the app with Smart Lists and a new interface.

Electricomics
Featuring exclusive digital comics from Watchmen’s Alan Moore and Preacher’s Garth Ennis Electricomics is also designed to be an open source platform for aspiring creators to build their own interactive digital comics and publish them via the app. With some truly ground-breaking titles released at launch, Electricomics now offers a library of free to download titles via it’s website.

Madefire
Having made their name by publishing some of the most innovative digital comics around – including two former Digital Comic of the Year winners (Captain Stone Is Missing, and Mono: Pacific) – Madefire is also a digital storefront for major publishers like Dark Horse, IDW, Dynamite and Valiant, as well as a number of indie creators who bring their work to life with Madefire’s Motion Book Engine.

Marvel Unlimted
Get access to some of the greatest adventures of the world’s greatest superheroes from The Amazing Spider-Man to the X-Men, all for one handy monthly subscription cost. Although it doesn’t have the very latest issues available, it has some the best comics ever made all at your finger tips, unlike many of the other subscription based app services..

Nobrow
UK indie publisher Nobrow Press released this equally cool iPad app as a showcase for some of their ground-breaking and ultra-stylish graphic novels – with the added bonus of being able to see the process as many of the pages are available in pencils, inks and the final version. With 7 titles available at launch including the stand outs like Hildafolk by Luke Pearson and Ouroboros from Ben Newman Nobrow is a unique showcase from some truly unique books.

Sequential
With a new app just released, and now calling itself the ‘Indie Graphic Novel App’ Sequential features interactive editions of some of the worlds best graphic novels, from creators like Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman to Jaimie Hernandez and David Lloyd. It also has exclusive digital editions from the UK’s best indie publishers like Avery Hill, Improper Books and Fantagraphics.

Thrillbent
Mark Waid’s digital exclusive publishing platform sees his own cutting edge series Insufferable released alongside boundary pushing titles like Tim Gibson’s Moth City, Chris Sheridan’s Motorcycle Samurai and Alex de Campi’s trailblazing Valentine, all for a bargain monthly fee. In 2015 it also became the exclusive digital home of Terry Moore’s seminal Strangers in Paradise.
