Dear Readers,

It’s probably the understatement of the decade to say that it’s not been a great time for everyone recently. And that includes the world of indie comics. We’ve seen comics postponed, conventions cancelled and entire publishing models turned on their head during lockdown. While many have found themselves with additional time on their hands to be creative and be inspired, for just as many of us the increased stresses and demands of family and work life during have pushed things to breaking point. After all, many of the fine folk out there publishing small press and indie comics are doing this for love not money. It’s as a passion project and when the passion dries up or is taken away then it can be difficult to continue.

And that is certainly something we can identify with here at Pipedreams Comics, as during lockdown we found ourselves approaching as difficult crossroad. For the past  6 years we have tried to shout about the wonderful world of indie comics. Extolled it’s virtues and praised it’s under dogs. However with fewer comics to review during lockdown and even less time to do it in we have been unable to post on the site for some time. (If you missed us, thank you!). But with the world returning to some semblance of normal, we felt it was time for Pipedream Comics to return to ‘normal’ too. Or at least, what passes for normal these days.

However like a lot of folk at the moment, we feel like we probably can’t return to exactly how things were. With no conventions and only a limited release schedule (not to mention the demands on our time still being high) we have decided to return to our roots and rediscover what made us start to write about indie comics in the first place – a love of great comics!

So rather than simply attempting to publish as many reviews as we can to help spread the word, we are going to concentrate on those which we have are able to truly take in and appreciate. We will bring you a new semi-regular digest of opinions and comment on the books we are reading and the books we love.

It is this passion and desire to spread the world of indie comics which we want to get back to, as it has been what has driven the site in the past, and it is what will continue to do it going forward. So starting this weekend will be out first new posting, we hope you like and please feel free to feedback to us @pipedreamcomics on twitter!
