Congratulations to Matthew Inman’s The Oatmeal for scooping the best digital/webcomic prize at the Eisner Awards 2014, presented at the San Diego Comic Con 2014. This superb collection of pop culture memes, quizzes, and stories is one of the most shared sites on the internet with a huge and dedicated following.

Other big winners on the night were Saga’s Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples, Love and Rockets Jamie Hernandez, Hawkeye’s artist David Aja and writer Matt Fraction, who also won for Sex Criminals. All these titles are not only creator-owned, which is a fantastic sign for the health of the industry, but also available digitally so clearly the world of digital comics is in strong health too after this year’s biggest event in the comics calendar.
