Now in it’s 6th year, the East London Comics Arts Festival (better known as ELCAF) is one of the premier events for small press comics and zines in the UK. Founded by the wonderful Nobrow Press in 2012 it is a three day celebration of the artier end of the comics spectrum and features a whos who of indie small press creators alongside the a selection of the most exciting up and coming new artist and illustrators looking to break into this wonderful scene.

Running from the 16th -18th June between 12 and 7 at the Round Chapel on Glenarm Road and the School Rooms on Powercroft Road (both in London, E5), it is a true festival for comic creators everywhere (not a cosplayer or Funko Pop in site!)

Alongside publishers like event organisers Nobrow and Flying Eye Books there will be representatives from the likes of Faber & Faber and Drawn And Quarterly as well as small press supremos like Avery Hill Publishing.

The guest list is a vertiable whos who (with a few ‘who-on-earth-are-they?’ for the unititated) and include favourites of ours like Josh Hicks (who will be debuting his new book Human Garbage) and also Dirty Rotten Comics (who will have the new all colour issue #10 alongside copies of Matthew Dooley’s wonderful The Practical Implications of Immortality).

There will also be a full calendar of events ranging from technical talks on Poster Making and The Power Of The Doodle to creator insights, such as Jamie Rhodes talking about the wonderful A Castle In England. You can find a full program here.

You couldn’t ask for a more comics focused weekend and with so many great creators (many of whom are completely new to us!) we cannot wait for a day of discovery and discussion at this wonderful event.
