merrickWhen we reached the end of Treves: A Restless Night (the recent spin off to Merrick: The Sensational Elephantman) it left us clamouring for more adventures of the Victorian sideshow superhero. And fortunately we have not had to wait long, as writer Tom Ward and artist Luke Parker are back, with a new two part story, The Gamblers Cards, on Kickstarter now. We catch up with Tom to find out if introducing the first super villain of the Merrick universe was any kind of gamble, or always a sure-thing?

Treves001

From the pages of our favourite Victorian superhero adventure, Merrick the Sensational Elephantman, comes Treves: A Restless Night. Writer Tom Ward and artist Luke Parker’s prequel/spin off explores the early days of Merrick’s long time ally Treves in India, complete with cursed locals, zombie stonemasons and sinister tentacled beasties. But will it be as sensational as the main man Merrick?

Doc Dino #01Doc Dino is an interesting character. Not just because he is a dinosaur surgeon who keeps killing his patients, but because he is a great example of the unpredictable nature of Kickstarter. Having managed funding at the second attempt, can Merrick’s Tom Ward and Wart’s Chris Welsh fulfil the faith their fans have bestowed in them? And having avoided extinction, does Doc Dino have what it takes to evolve and survive?

Merrick 4Victorian sideshow phenomenon Joseph Merrick (aka the Sensational Elephantman) might not seem the obvious choice for a  comic book hero but writer Tom Ward and artist Luke Parker manage to achieve just that in Merrick: The Sensational Elephatman. With issue #4 of the ComiXology Submit sensation hitting the stores this week, we look back at the first four instalments.

Merrick_issue_3_page1What if the infamous Victorian sideshow attraction Joseph Merrick was actually a superhero who hid his powers in plain sight? This is the brilliant premise that writer Tom Ward and artist Luke Parker have built their series Merrick: The Sensational Elephantman around. One of the most original and exciting digital comics around, (it made our Best of ComiXology Submit 2014) issue #3 of Merrick is about to hit the digital stores so we caught up with creator Tom to find out more about the mystery of the sensational Elephantman.
