We were lucky enough to round-up a slew of great books ahead of this year’s Nottingham Comic Convention, including Midnight Man: Gunspace, Perrywinkle and many more. But we also managed to pick up some great book on the day, and here are some of our favourites including the new chapters of Reckless Hero’s space western The Last Sheriff,  James Lawrences’ Legend of Mariposa zines, The Marionette Unit and Accent UK’s Westernoir.

With a line up that featured a veritable who’s who of the U.K. Small press comic book scene, along with some top name guests from the Big Two and beyond, Nottingham Comic Con has become one of the most anticipated events of the year. So for our last convention of the year, we made the trip up north for the first time, to enjoy a great day that not even a fire alarm could ruin!

One of the most eagerly awaited debuts at this weekend’s Nottingham Comic Convention is Susie Gander’s Perrywinkle – a mix of personal reflections on her own battles with cancer, along with a kick ass super heroine who manifests as Susie’s voice of conscience during her treatment. Ahead of her convention debut we catch up with Susie to hear the inspiration behind her inspiring story.

This October sees the return of the Nottingham Comic Convention, featuring a guest list packed full of awesome comic professionals alongside the best of the small press (including our good selves). So as we begin to look forward to this fantastic comics focused event, we catch up with organiser Kev Brett to find out more about why Nottingham is a convention you need to support and also get the lowdown on the new NCC Anthology, now funding on Kickstarter!

When it comes to Comic Conventions loaded with small press talent, then there are few with a guest list that can rival this year’s Nottingham Comic Convention. Having established a reputation as one of the best small press friendly conventions on the scene, Kev Brett’s fantastic event returns of the Nottingham Conference Centre on October 14th, we take a look at what’s in store for the day!

nottingham-comic-conAs well as running a fantastic convention, the folk over at Nottingham Comic Convention have put together a Kickstarter to fund an amazing looking indie anthology called Forest Tales volume 1. Featuring stories from some of the best indie talent around, including Marc Laming, Andy Bloor, Nich Angell, Vince Hunt, Gavin Mitchell and Emily Owen, it also has a stunning a cover by Random Trials‘ Dean Beattie.
