kickstarter_of_the_weekDigital comics trailblazer SUTU is at it again, creating a new collection of augmented reality paintings in an art book called Prosthetic Reality, which he is looking to get funded on Kickstarter. We’ve seen SUTU’s augmented reality work before in the amazing Modern Polaxis comic (which was a previous nominee for our Digital Comic Of The Year award) as well as his cutting edge story-telling in webcomics like These Memories Won’t Last, however this time he has brought along some other digital comics pioneers to help him, including Upgrade Soul’s Ezra Clayton Daniels and many more from all over the globe. Although it is a much more traditional book in the sense that it has individual pieces of artwork on a printed page, the addition of an augmented reality layer provided via a free to download introduce some truly staggering new dimensions to already amazing looking pieces of artwork. Words can’t really do it justice, so check out the Kickstarter video below and if you like what you see then pledge to the Kickstarter here.

kickstarter_of_the_weekAs well as being one of our favourite names for a comic, Kate Ashwin’s glorious webcomic Widdershins has been one of our very favourite discoveries this year. Which means it is a no brainer that her new Kickstarter for volume 6 of her Victorian magic and mystery adventure would end up as our Kickstarter of the Week. In Find The Lady we get to enjoy adventures from two generations of the Barber clan, as Harriet needs to use the knowledge of her father Henry to help save the town from a suave stranger. It’s packed with Kate’s usual mix of charming humour and stunning artwork and looks set to continue the wonderful legacy she has created in previous volumes – if you want to know what all the fuss is about, then you can read our review of the first 5 volumes here.

These Memories Wont LastWe never tire of referring to Stu ‘SUTU’ Campbell as a webcomic trailblazer and pioneer, because his titles like Nawlz, Neomad and Modern Polaxis are some of the most dynamic and exciting digital comics we have seen. His latest work, These Memories Won’t Last is much more personal though, telling the story of his grandfather’s dementia. but still features his unique cutting edge brand of story-telling. We catch up with Stu to find out the secrets behind this wonderful webcomic.

indie-round-upThis month’s round-up of the best digital indie comics features space-based sci-fi in Shaun Dobie’s Descending Outlands, Comicker Digital’s Lost Angels, a sublime slice of life in Jesse Young’s Perfect Day webcomic, amnesiac assassin adventure R:IL Persona and Aussie crime noir in Trista and Holt.

BioWars_Cover_01There is a war waging inside our bodies – or at least that’s what the creators of web comic Biowars would have us believe! Inside the body of NYC student Alex Hawking the BioWarriors are battling a genetically engineered virus that is set to destroy their world and Alex’s too. To find out more about the wild and crazy world of the Biowars we contacted artist Lucius Cross to find out more about the Biowars and to give us a health check.
