Unfamilliar Skies

Sam Webster is a veteran of the UK convention circuit thanks to his superhero series Joe Cape. However, Sam is now flexing his artistic muscles with Unfamiliar Skies, about a rebellious young girl adventuring through the cosmos. Launching at this weekend’s Melksham Comic Con after a successful Kickstarter campaign, will this title be another blast off success or will it end up lost in space?

kickstarter_of_the_weekJoe Cape writer Sam Webster has reached for the stars and beyond in his new book Unfamiliar Skies. 19 year old Claris is part of a mission to the closest inhabitable planet that was started by her great great grandfather, and set to be finished by his descendants. But she has had enough and gone on the run, frustrated that her destiny was previously decided by her ancestors. It’s an ambitious tale for Webster but judging by the five page preview that he has posted on the Kickstarter pledge page, it’s one he is embracing fully. With a really smart old school 70s sci-fi feel, with shades of Logans Run and Silent Running, but presented in Webster’s stylish Anime inspired style it’s a series that has a lot of potential and we look forward to seeing it make it’s debut at this year’s Melksham Comic Con – just so long as it hits it’s funding goal, which you can help by pledging here.
