We were lucky enough to round-up a slew of great books ahead of this year’s Nottingham Comic Convention, including Midnight Man: Gunspace, Perrywinkle and many more. But we also managed to pick up some great book on the day, and here are some of our favourites including the new chapters of Reckless Hero’s space western The Last Sheriff,  James Lawrences’ Legend of Mariposa zines, The Marionette Unit and Accent UK’s Westernoir.

One of the books we were hoping to see at Nottingham this weekend, was Reckless Hero’s The Last Sheriff #4 – the follow up to one of our top 10 books of 2016. Unfortunately due to some problems with the printing they didn’t have them available to sell on the day, however they are now pre-ordering it on their site and gave us an exclusive sneak peak!

icoty2016Compiling our list of the best indie comics of 2016 has not been an easy task! There have been so many amazing books that narrowing it down to just 50 great titles was tough, let alone picking our 10 favourite. However after all the bickering and squabbling among the Pipedream team we have narrowed it down the 10 best, and what a collection we have! But now it’s up to you! Just as we do with our Digital Comic of the Year award, we are going to leave it up to you to pick a winner.
You can vote for the Indie Comic of the Year 2016 here! (Polling ends at midnight on January 5th!)

Last Sheriff #3Reckless Hero’s tale of a lone sheriff hiding from his past while evil gun-toting alien bounty hunters chase him down, has evolved from a trad sci-fi western into an epic space cowboy hybrid with some truly stunning visuals in The Last Sheriff #3. There’s also a new despicable bad guy in town hunting down our hero and a greatly expanded world for the characters to inhabit, but have we been too quick on the draw when it came to criticising Chris Jenkins and Chris Imber’s gun slinging hero?

ComixologySubmitEvery month we look at some of the best indie digital comics from ComiXology’s indie publishing platform Submit. As part of our celebration of the Best of 2015 we rundown our selection of the very best of ComiXology Submit 2015 and we start with numbers 21-30.

The Last Sheriff #1We’ve seen a posse of sci-fi westerns ride into town in recent months, from big name gunslingers like Copperhead to indie desperadoes like Descending Outlands. But will The Last Sheriff from UK publisher Reckless Hero be quick on the draw at high noon and become the baddest book in town, or will it just end up another lily-livered pretender?
