It’s that time of year again where we begin to rundown the best indie and small press comics in time for our Indie Comic Of The Year poll. We start with a demonic superhero, a dystopian hi-tech future, the most action-packed comic of the year and the finale of a small press stalwart. As well as some exciting debuts and the return of some old friends.

for our latest round up of indie comics we look at news issues from some familiar names: we start with an exclusive look at the new issue Andy W. Clift’s sensational space adventure The Adventures of Captain Cosmic, which has just gone intergalactic on Kickstarter; we follow that up with the final issue of the first arc of Matt Garvey’s supernatural superhero book The Devil In Disguise; before pouring ourselves a drink at Mahoney’s the new book from The Guys’ Rich Carrington.

2018 was a stellar year for writer Matt Garvey, with the debut of the critically acclaimed white NOIR and The Ether, as well another issue of the ongoingВ Chunks. But never one to rest on his laurels, Garvey has started 2018 with another debut – this time the superhero horror book The Devil In Disguise! So how does he manage to keep churning out so many great books? We find out if Matt has his own Faustian pact and why variety is so important for his creative ambitions!

2017 was a busy year for Small Press up and comer Matt Garvey releasing three very different comic series, two of which made it into our 2017 top 50. Well, far from resting on his laurels, Mister Garvey is hitting 2018 running with a new comic straight out of the gate as he and fellow Millarworlder Robert Ahmed bring forth The Devil in Disguise #1. Will this be the comic where Garvey struggles to hit the mark or, like his prior works, will this outing also be devilishly good?
