ComixologySubmitIt’s been another outstanding year for ComiXology’s indie publishing arm Submit. With hundreds of titles published every month, there has never been a better time to publish digitally or get into reading independent digital comics. Not every great comic this year has been published by one of the big three, so in case you missed any of these great titles or would just like to find out where to start, here is our round up of the very Best of ComiXology Submit 2014.

ComixologySubmitThis week’s best of ComiXology Submit features: Andrew R MacLean’s big-bearded, witch-carrying sword-for-hire series Head Lopper #1; Wrestlers and superheros in Palooka #1; Stephan Franck’s monochrome vampire heist series Silver Volume 1; And undead soldiers from World War I in Zombie International #1.

We’ve a decidedly spooky collection of must-read digital comics this Halloween weekend with the new issue of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman: Overture, Stephan Franck’s vampire/heist adventure Silver and all-ages fun with Plants vs. Zombies Lawnmageddon.

silver1_coverStephan Franck wanted to make the move from animation to digital comics, but rather wait for the big companies to come knocking he decided to start his own – Dark Planet Comics – and release his own titles the way he intended them to be. Releasing their first issue, the magnificently monochrome Silver back in March, Stephan and Dark Planet are looking to take on the big boys at their own game with this 1930s infused horror/pulp adventure – with a familliar bad guy lurking at the centre. To find out more about the world of Dark Planet Comics we got in touch with Stephan hoping to find out some secrets from the world of Silver.
