This weekend saw the great and the good of the UK indie and small press scene descend of the Cardiff Masonic Hall for the Cardiff Independent Comic Expo. Although we couldn’t make it on the day, we were lucky enough to be sent some preview copies of 4 of the fantastic books being released this weekend at CICE, so here is our pick of what we would have got, if we’d been able to make it to Wales!

Sarah Millman burst on to the indie scene with her pug based adventure Heart Of Time. However her new series NPC-Tea with it’s tale of an ancient deity working in a Cardiff tea shop, combined with some of Sarah’s best artwork to date (including a stunning blue and pink colour scheme) may be about to become her new signature title. We catch up with Sarah to find out about orcs and goblins in the real world and just what is her favourite tea?

npc_teaA popular mainstay on the small press circuit for the last couple of years, Sarah Millman is known for the colourful, upbeat and fun comic A Heart of Time. Now, ‘Milmo’ has released her new book, NPC Tea, which focuses on a modern day take of Men, Elves and Orcs as one girl seeks out some powerful spirits. Will this comic become as popular as Millman’s previous title or will it not be everyone’s cup of tea?

As well as featuring big names from the mainstream it was also one of the most important weekend’s for the indie and small press scene with dozens of new books being released and showcased.
