Digital-Comic-of-the-YearThere were so many amazing digital comics on sale in 2014, from major publishers to up and coming indies and we really struggled to condense our favourites list down to just the Top 10 Digital Comics of 2014. So here are the honourable mentions, the ones who, despite their awesome-ness, didn’t quite make the shortlist for Digital Comic Of The Year – but are still just as deserving of a mention!

Knuckleheads_01-1

Brian Winkeler and Robert WIlson IV’s slacker superhero series Knuckleheads, is affectionately known as our ‘11th favourite MonkeyBrain title’ after narrowly missing out on a spot on our rundown of the digital first publishers best titles. However with the first story arc now finished and the first 8 issues set to be collected into a print edition from IDW Publishing called Knuckleheads: Fist Contact we are rethinking that moniker and changing it to our ‘#1 vomiting superhero book’ (and new favourite graphic novel!). We catch up with Brian and Robert to find out how things are going for our nausea-challenged hero Trevor K Trevinski (a.k.a. The Crystal Fist) and friends.

This weekends must read digital comics in the Sunday Digest include Warren Ellis’ new eco apocalypse series Trees from Image Comics, Ian Edginton and INJ Culbard’s clock punk fairytale Brass Sun from 2000 AD and the latest instalment of slacker superhero series Knuckleheads from MonkeyBrain Comics.

The second in our fantastic series of guest columns sees Brian Winkeler, writers of our ‘11th favourite MonkeyBrain Comics‘ title tell us all about what he loves the world of digital comics.

Knuckleheads_01-1Any book that features a lead character called ‘Hot Drunk English Chick‘ and uses the futility of Cloverfield as a reference point when confronted with a giant monster attack is going to be a hit in our books. So after last weeks sneak preview into the world of MonkeyBrain‘s brilliant new slacker superhero adventure Knuckleheads we wanted to get to know it’s stars Trevor and Lance a bit better as they seemed like our kind of guys. And who better to  give us the lowdown on these two and the superpowers of the Crystal Fist than creators Brian Winkeler and Robert Wilson.
