For our third look at this past weekend’s True Believers Comic Festival, we are going to take a glimpse at what life was like behind the table, as editor Alex Thomas makes his convention debut with Pipedream Comics and an Indie Shocase special edition of The Pull List!

This weekend’s True Believers Comic Festival saw three members of the Pipedream Comics team in attendance, each with their own unique take on the day. Following hot on the footsteps of James Blundell’s thoughts from yesterday, our other intrepid reporter Olly MacNamee fills us in on his day at the races as he gets the comic con season underway at True Believers Comic Festival 2017.

Calling all kid comic creators! If you’ve ever fancied having one of your characters appear in the pages of an actual comic (and are aged between 5 and 15!) then Jon Laight and Matt Strott have just the competition for you. Send them your creation by February 5th or give it to them at True Believers and you could be in with a chance of it appearing in the pages of their new comic Late Knights: A Sense Of Steel! We catch up with writer Jon Laight to find out all about it…

While nowhere near Springtime yet, I find my winter hibernation now over and done with, as I dust myself off and I find myself looking ahead to the slate of upcoming comic cons here in the Midlands area. First up, on Saturday February 4th, the third True Believers comic con once again sets up shop at the Cheltenham Racecourse facilities. So what does this season starter have to offer?

Brethren Born 2After the success of any first issue, it then becomes a fine balancing act to maintain that success; keeping what works and losing what doesn’t while moving the story forward. Well, Close 2 Immortality members Jon Laight and Level 8 Comics hope to to release a worthy follow up with issue two of Brethren Born, a superhero comic with a very extraterrestrial twist. But can this second issue build on the magic caused by the first or will Brethren Born simply be a one hit wonder?

C2C logoAfter a successful launch at this year’s London Super Comic Convention 2016, we catch up with the members of new indie comics collective Close 2 Immortality – Brethren Born’s Jon Laight, Redshift Press‘ Chris Sides & Chris Travell as well as Jay Martin the writer of their debut series ALV, and founder Phil Woodward – to hear all about the merits of joining forces in the competitive world of small press!
