After a hard fought campaign, and the most votes ever cast in a Pipedream Comics poll, we are delighted to announce that the winner of Small Press and Indie Comic of the Year 2018 is…

Thanks to writer Dave Cook’s epic marketing campaign, the name Killtopia has been at the top of our most anticipated comic of 2018 list from the beginning of the year. But now that it’s finally here and we’ve been whipped into feverish anticipation, will this dystopian science fiction book manage to live up to all that hype?

Packed full of monster mechs and ultraviolet mercenaries who hunt them down, Killtopia from Card Shark Comics is one of our most eagerly anticipated indie Kickstarters of 2018. It’s already doing gangbusters on the crowd-funding site, but we couldn’t resist catching up with writer Dave Cook to find out the secrets of this ultra-stylish dystopian world.

“When the realms of reality and dreams start to merge, a gifted young woman steps up to save her world from total collapse.”  this is the synopsis of Vessels #2 the new series from Dave Cook’s Card Shark Comics. Back in August Olly featured issue #1 in one of his round-ups and he tells us “I thought Vessels No.1 showed great promise as a sword and sorcery epic in the making, and so it is with no hesitation that I would point readers to this new Kickstarter campaign!”

vesselsWith some extra time on his hands thanks to the school holidays, our indie comics expert Olly MacNamee takes a few hours out from sunning himself to cast an eye over three more great indie titles in this month’s Olly’s World of Indie. They include: Dave Cook’s new fantasy story Vessels; anarchic music inspired series Iron Bard Ballisto; and both volumes of David Lumsden’s Boat, based on his short film.
