Following in the footsteps of our Digital Comic Of The Year poll, we are introducing a new award this year – Indie Comic of the Year 2016. Celebrating the fantastic variety of indie and small press books which we have covered on the site in the past 12 months. We’ll give you a shortlist of the top 10 for voting on December 26th, but in the meantime we’ll countdown the 50 best indie comics of the year and remind you of what a great year it has been for indie and small press comics!
We’ve got a bit behind on our indie round-ups of late, but with so many great new titles coming out from some of our favourite creators and publishing houses we decided to put them all in one bumper indie comics round-up and share the love! Featuring Save our Souls, Papercuts and Inkstains, Tragic Tales of Horrere, 100% Biodegradable and Sliced Quarterly.
We’ve an indie comics round-up featuring some of weirdest and most eclectic indie sci-fi comics around including: UK comics anthology 100% Biodegradable; surreal, psychedelia in Galaxafreaks; ass-kicking action in The Fist; and Slime! a spectacular showcase from artist Łukasz Kowalczuk.
This week’s best of ComiXology Submit features: a Brit sci-fi anthology in 100% Biodegradable volume 4; a drunken bear who goes to war in a home-made tank in The Trials of Francis The Bear; some genuinely unsettling horror tales in the vampire and zombie free The Sleep of Reason; and the a new collected edition of app-based digital comic Upgrade Soul. All of these are available on ComiXology this week.
