After a hard fought campaign, and the most votes ever cast in a Pipedream Comics poll, we are delighted to announce that the winner of Small Press and Indie Comic of the Year 2018 is…
Red Rocket Comic by Matt Garvey, Andy W Clift, Grayham Puttock and Michael Rea.
“Wow, This is amazing news..” creator Matt Garvey told us. “I am incredibly flattered and grateful to everyone who voted for us…thank you. I was so fortunate to have the greatest team working with me on this comic and I couldn’t be prouder of Grayham, Andy and Michael…they deserve this win so much for all their hard work on Red Rocket Comet.”
Pipedream Comics editor Alex Thomas added to these comments: “This is a throughly deserved win for Garvey and his team. Red Rocket Comet stood out from the crowd from the first minute we read it, and all involved really stepped up a level with this one. This book is every bit the equal of anything coming out of a major publisher, and is a fantastic showcase for the kind of exciting small press and indie comics that are being produced here in the UK right now!”
It was a fantastic year for artist Andy W Clift, whose Adventures of Captain Cosmic took a deserving third place, with Rachael Ball’s Wolf the only thing capable of stopping him from getting the top two places. And here is the full line up of how they ended up.
#1 Red Rocket Comet (30.92%)
