ComiXology Comics iconComiXology have today unveiled a revolutionary new service for their digital users – ComiXology Instant Checkout – the ability to purchase comics at the click of a button and have them synch through to their tablet or smartphone. This may seem awfully familiar to long term users of the Comics app, but for everyone else it is more similar to Amazon’s 1-click purchasing. Comics fans will be ‘delighted’ at this news as in effect it now brings back much of the functionality lost by the Comics app when it upgraded itself over the summer.

Dynamite and ComicsFixComicsFix, the new kids on the digital comics block, are expanding their library of titles with a new deal to bring Dynamite Entertainment’s expansive and versatile library to their subscription based app. It’s another fantastic way for digital comics fans to get access to amazing title like Garth Ennis’ The Boys, Gail Simone’s excellent Red Sonja and the brilliant Bob’s Burgers!

The Universe #1Panel Syndicate, the pay-what-you-want digital publisher from Saga creator Brian K Vaughan and Marcos Martin have announced a second new series, Universe!, from the fearless mind of award-wining writer/artist Albert Monteys. Universe! joins Vaughan and Martin’s dystopian noir The Private Eye as part of the Panel Syndicate roster which fans can purchase for a price of their choosing.

Robotworld on ScrollonScrollon, the innovative sideways scrolling digital comics app from filmmaker Doug Lefler has revealed an exciting new series from respected storyboard artist Mark Moretti. “Mission: Abort”, is the first chapter of Moretti’s new series Robotworld and is available now on the Scrollon app and we’ve got a fantastic first look!

Marvel ComicsMarvel are teasing the world with a host of tantalising images for it’s Summer 2015 event, it started out with Civil War and has taken in many of the House of Ideas of other epic crossovers from Age of Ultron, to Marvel Zombies and Age of Apocalypse. We have a feeling it could all be related to next year’s epic Secret Wars crossover from Jonathan Hickman, but for now here are all the teasers in one place for you pick your favourite!

Bestselling graphic novelist Dave Gibbons is to become the first Comics Laureate. The announcement was made by internationally acclaimed comics authority and graphic novelist Scott McCloud at the launch of new charity Comics Literacy Awareness (CLAw) at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival on 17th October 2014.

Requiem Vampire Knight: ResurrectionThe creator of 2000 AD is bringing a different kind of horror to digital publishing with the first volume of Pat Mills’ Requiem Vampire KnightResurrection, coming to ComiXology as part of his new digital imprint Millsverse. Following in the [cloven] footsteps of his digital one-shot PsychoKiller, Requiem sees a German soldier reborn on the hell planet Resurrection to become a formidable vampire knight!
